You are now ready to take your tool set and slide beneath the front of your Volkswagen. Find the sway bar behind one of the front tires where it attaches the bar to the suspension. It is usually suggested to replace both sides and it is easier to take out both sway bar bushing brackets even if you are only replacing one. Some of your bushing brackets are two-bolt that can be removed by taking out the bolts with a ratchet, extension and socket. Some have one bolt and a hinge. Take off the one bolt and swing the bracket out. Take away both brackets so you can move your sway bar up and down. Meddle the sway bar bushing off of the bar with a pry bar to unfasten the slot in the bushing and get it off of the bar. Position the new bushings onto the sway bar by manipulating it with the pry bar. Replace the brackets and secure them with the ratchet, extension, and socket.
