Saab Drive Belts

Saab was born out of the center and culture within Scandinavia; from a long-standing tradition of intuitive engineering and sleek designs. This perpetrated some of the best pioneering solutions and advanced vehicles all with a priority to instill a complete respect for the environment. Saab’s vehicle components grant all Saab automobiles with their original parts, built around on the same adherence for innovation and engineering. With more than 50 years of experience under their belts, Saab has some of the best experience and technical knowledge put into all of their products, and even their drive belt parts and components. There will come a time when you have to replace your Saab’s timing belt due to wear and tear over time. Saab suggests that you should replace these belts every 60,000 miles. The processes for replacing your timing belt are standard on most Saab models, even the 9000 series V-6 3.0 liter engine. For more specific directions on your Saab, you can look to your owner's manual and can replace your timing belt in about four to six hours. The first thing to do is lift up the front passenger side of with a floor jack and slide a jack stand below the front passenger side axle. Then lower the jack until your Saab is on the jack stand. Take off the front tire with a lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts and put them all to the side. Take off the front fender wheel cover by pulling it away from the frame and detaching the plastic snap pins. Find the upper engine mount bracket at the front of your Saab’s engine and unfasten the upper engine mount bracket with a socket wrench from the engine block and the frame. Work loose the bolts on your water pump and power steering pump with a socket wrench enough to loosen your timing belt. Take the tension off the timing belt with a 15 mm socket wrench on the tensioner pulley bolt and then take off the belt tensioner, as well as the water pump and power steering pulleys. FCP Euro has a full stock of Saab drive belt parts and components, including all parts for Saab’s vehicle line up.

Saab Drive Belts Online

Take off your Saab’s air intake pipe and find the lower engine mount bracket. Disconnect it and loosen all of the outer timing cover bolts, leaving the center bolt on. Find the timing marks on your camshaft sprocket, which is above the crankshaft and the timing cover. Turn your crankshaft clockwise by putting a socket wrench on the center bolt and rotating it until the marks on the camshaft sprocket and the timing cover line up. Put camshaft locks on both ends of the engine banks in the front at the camshafts to lock them in place. Detach the idler pulleys at the tensioner and take off the pulleys and timing beltAttach some new idler pulleys, tensioner and timing belt to the front of your Saab’s engine and align the white marks on the camshaft sprocket with the timing belt’s marks. Now you can take off the camshaft locks. Put the outer screws back on the timing cover and connect the lower engine bracket to the engine. Connect the air intake pipe and secure the tensioner bolt. Secure the bolts on the water pump and power steering pump, as well, and then adjust the tensioner bolt until the timing chain is tight. You can now replicate all of the steps you previously took in the reverse order to put everything back together.
