BMW Ignition Parts

BMW is renowned for their fascination with quality and refined engineering, while always escalating the brand further in order to push their auto industry competition. Their standing speaks for itself, from their vehicles to their product line, and even their ignition parts and components. When you turn the key in your BMW, it usually leads means your engine starts right up. When this does not occur, this regularly happens at the worst possible time. Ignition issues are frustrating. There are so many things below your BMW’s hood that can bring them on. In diagnosing an ignition issue, there are particular areas to inspect to figure out where the core problem is coming from. Whether it is electrical or fuel related, the problem might not be as complicated as it seems at first glance. Electrical problems can sometimes be the source of the issue. This can come in the form of simplified issues, such as a blown fuse or corrosion on your BMW’s battery. A dead battery or a damaged ignition switch can keep the engine from turning over. Also, a faulty starter connection can come from erosion to the unprotected parts of the starter that keep it from spinning correctly. If you have questions about BMW’s ignition parts or components, the FCP Euro team and website have got you covered.

You BMW’s ignition coil can become fragile and corrode over time. This will at times split, keeping the starter from turning over. A damaged distributor cap can be a problem, particularly in wetter weather. If there is water or mist below the cap, it needs to be dried and inspected for damage or replaced completely. If there is power to your BMW’s ignition and the starter is functioning, it may be a fuel system problem. There are electrical connections in the fuel injection system that can get looser with time and need tightening. The fuel pump can also lose pressure, stopping the flow of fuel to your BMW’s starter. If the pump has power, and the pump fuse is not faulty, the relay line could be blocked or leaking to stop fuel flow. There may be an additional, more complex setback. Loose starter bolts can lead to a shaking in the unit that will damage it and necessitate replacement. A damaged injector can stop the engine from turning over, specifically when it is warm or a faulty cold start valve will make the starter breakdown. In some instances, broken teeth on your BMW’s flywheel can miss the connection with the starter's gears, forcing it to spin without engaging. The ignition is a complex set of parts and there are numerous ways it can break. Regular servicing and repairs should keep your BMW’s engine starting great every time, though.
