Also inspect power steering hoses that are subject to deterioration as the rubber begins to breakdown. Your Audi should have 3 main power steering hoses including a main pressure hose, suction hose and return hose. While checking these hoses take the time to inspect the power steering pump for signs of leaks.
A power steering pump is one of the key components needed for power steering. The hydraulic power for the steering is provided by a rotary vane pump. The pump is driven by the car's engine via a belt and pulley. The vanes within the power steering pump pull hydraulic fluid from the return line at low pressure and force it into the outlet at high pressure.
